so i bought an hx35 and have a few questions
my buddy had 11 hx35s that needed rebuilt sitting in his garage and i bought one for 50 bucks. and i rebuilt it. people put these hx35s on 6.5s and set the boost lower than a cummins cause they cant take as much as them. has anyone done this here before? fabrication isnt a problem. does anyone know the adapter piece for the oil piece? and i have a diamond eye exhaust and i have the same size downpipe thats diamond eye for a cummins. will it bolt up? ive been told that its shaped different but theres a way around it. anything will help. thanks!

The hx 35 swapp is pretty easy. You will need to make a dp adapter as the hx exhaust side is straight out the back where the gmx is on the downside. It is fairly simple and there are many how to threats on other sites. I have done this and love it. Lower egt's better response and more power. there is a guy on another site that sells the downpipe adapters if you dont want to fab your own

Here is a couple clips of what the hx on my rig. currently only running 10 psi but will be turning it up to 15 today
One thing I want to caution for those that want to go HX-35 route, if you run sustained boost often over 14 psi on a mature engine you are at risk of blowing head gaskets with the TTY bolts that GM used.
I would only recommend this if also doing head gasket swap/refresh and ARP studs.
Also when you get above 10 psi boost sustained with any turbo, you need to seriously consider some sort of charge air cooling, ATA or WTA-IC, or WMI.
The 6.5TD as shipped from GM was never intended to run high boost that causes extra stress, and elevated temps that comes with higher boost #s, Dmax-Cummis-Strokes were designed for it with things like ICs as standard equipment, if running an electronic IP on 6.5 then you will also have to have the chip or PCM match tuned to the turbo being used.
I see guys bragging with my HX-35 does this most of those guys are with mechanical IPs that don't have electronmic limits to deal with, also there are some programs out there for electronic IPs that move the limits out of the way and add extra fuel/boost, but again without a post turbo charge air cooling there is a potential of "hurting things" more than helping over the long haul.
If you want to go with the HX variants do your homework, it is not "just a bolt on" install.
