Default Need help convincing.

I am currently at Wyotech in Blairsville Pa and I am about to start my High Performance Powertrains class. The school currently has an LB7 (I do not know what year but from the body it looks to fall in the 01-04 range) and as of now they do not have a thing done to it. The original purpose of the rig is to be a drag truck seeing as how the Pittsburgh Raceway is a short drive down the road. The point of this is to get input from you guys who are more versed in the Dmax's then I (I have a 2001 7.3). I want to convince the coordinator of the department to let me begin the build on it, I really do not want to spend 3 months working on tuner cars. I was hoping to get some ideas on what to suggest to him to get him to throw a little money in it. Where should should we start, and after those modifications what kind of results do we hope to see from the money spent? Imagine you are selling the idea to your wife but the more power the better. Haha. Thanks for your time guys it is greatly appreciated.

No budget at all they cut funding to that project... in the words of one instructors "what it would take to make that truck have 500hp we could make that (pointing to the camero drag car) run low nines (it ran 9.783 last time out)." Its okay though I am helping my buddy rebuild his 7.3 at the moment. But I appreciate the help anyway man.
