97 Chev with 6.5
We have a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe with a 6.5L engine. Has 130K on it and has run fine until recently when it has started to rev up while driving and particularly when sitting at a stop. Any idea what this could be? This is a GM 6.5 not to be confused with our Ford 6.0
common yes if its not been moved off the ip then its probably stock. most people carry 2 pmds just "encase" cause its a common problem, Symptoms of failure are stalling, hard starting, surging, poor fuel mileage, erratic idle and finally no-start. this is just from what i learned in the past couple days. so it may be your problem just wait till someone else confirms it. if you do replace it get a heat sink and relocation kit with one also. move it off the ip even if it is good. some say the only safe place in in front of rad or behind the bumper away from the engine compartment, since once you shut the engine off it will be heat soaked. make sense but ive seen them on the fender and not have any problems
try angelofishes or leroydiesel.com for the PMD, heat sink, #9 resistor and extension harness.
Do not buy a Dorman. I have heard many bad reports on them.
Do not deal with Pensacola Diesel. Dorman products and the #9 resistor box was empty when I opened it.
I have also heard of the revving being gas pedal related.
