Ive got a 2001 6sp and a dang near brand new edge comp hot unlock. its pretty good but i wish it had more down low. i've heard the smarty has more down low is this true? carter upgraded lift pump and never see below 11-12 psi even on 5x5 getting after it.

will the smarty feel better in the low end to me? if so I may have a 2 month old edge comp hot for sale.

 

I doubt it will be better. Have you played with the sub settings? The Comp is 125hp, Smarty 65hp.

 

I would keep the Comp.

I agree... you already have a HO pump, so you already have more down low power than the SO trucks... your top end is just limited in power by the injection pump. you can swap out a SO pump on there and sacrifice a bit of bottom end power for a MUCH stronger top end.

 

really the so pump makes that much difference? id rather add injectors then a different pump. would125's be a good choice?

 

125's will likely be smokey and hot without extra air. I ran a set of 65's before adding my compounds, they were a really nice size for a stock turbo.

 

yes, the SO pump can make over a 100hp difference once you start building up the truck with injectors, turbo(s) and wiretap fueling...

just wiretap fueling alone it makes a big difference...

buddy of mine has a 02 HO truck and he dyno'ed with just an edge comp and a boost elbow...

he put down 289hp/661tq with his edge comp on his HO truck.

before I really started building my truck I dyno'ed with just my adrenaline, boost elbow, and muffler delete... 362hp/882tq

so with both trucks using stock injectors, stock clutches, stock turbos, and both being 6-speeds... 73hp difference on stock injectors with wiretap fueling!

believe me when I say that number gap gets wider when injectors and turbo(s) are involved.


what makes the big difference is the fuel plunger size in the injection pumps.

the HO pump has 7mm fuel plungers.
the SO pump has 7.5mm fuel plungers.
