2005 LLY performance upgrade questions engine damage
I'm new to forums and I have a few questions about performance upgrades. 1. I want to upgrade my stock lly to make it fast and pull more. I was looking at Banks Stinger package and it includes the Computer software upgrades, the intake, exhaust. I know it will make my truck faster but will it damage my engine in the long run? 125,000 miles. Will it damage my stock trans?
anything over stock will shorten the life of the transmission. once you puss the HP to over 60 then the life drops fast so i would limit it to about 60ish HP
dont know much about the Banks stinger package but i would choose EFI Live over banks any day.

I've heard a lot of hype about EFI live, but I don't want such an extensive upgrade system. It may work extremely well but I don't have the time or money to spend on live. I just wanted to know how bad 75 extra HP and 100 ft/lbs would damage my stock drive train
yes, it will damage it
the higher the HP the shorter the life. with 75 extra HP and 100 ft/lbs, it may last a long time or a week but sooner or later it will need to be rebuilt.
mine at the claimed 90HP setting lasted about 8 months. others are pushing more and lasting longer some others not so much. i then did my transmission and started programming with EFI Live.
it you like the kit then go for it. if you start saving now you will probably have enough for a stage 3 or 4 transmission by the time your stock one goes out. after that you can then bump the HP up another notch and not have to worry about the transmission holding.
