please help 1997 cummins wont start

Default please help 1997 cummins wont start

I need your help heres what happened i have a 1997 12 valve stock with standard transmission i fueled up drove about 10 miles suddenly truck lost power when up shifting stopped truck quit tried to restart only way was to hold on floor no power appears to be flooding lots of smoke now it wont start how and what do i check i loosed injector lines and am getting fuel there please help i need my cummins back

Check your fuel filter maybe its clogged?

actually i just changed the fuel filter about 200 miles ago i was wondering about the computer is there a way to check it thanks any ideas

The computer has nothing to do with how the truck runs.
Check your shutoff solenoid and make sure its all the way up. There are some basic checks that can be recommended but its a much better idea to take the truck to a shop with a qualified tech, and allow them to diagnose it.

The computer has nothing to do with how the truck runs.
Check your shutoff solenoid and make sure its all the way up. There are some basic checks that can be recommended but its a much better idea to take the truck to a shop with a qualified tech, and allow them to diagnose it.
With the little information you have posted I see three possible issues.
1: if the truck is running but makes no power a blown intercooler boot.
2: slipped injection timing.
3: cracked injector or failed injector.

we removed the shut off solenoid had a problem with it before its ok truck doesnt run or start right now next step is to check injector pump timming we had it off a while back for rocker gasket change thanks any other ideas

The pump timing or the rocker cover gasket the rocker cover gaskets a big job I ordered jobber gaskets cork junk never put them in went to cummins got the rubber ones well worth the money not a job you want to do for fun still haven't had time to check pump timing I hope that's the problem thanks for the help
