So I picked up a '96, 5 speed, extended cab. I love it! But, being a 17 year old truck, there are issues. Also, I have never owned one and need to know what "normal" is:

While driving on the highway, if I lift too suddenly the transmission bucks once and makes a slight clunk. It bucks once when I get back in the throttle abruptly too. If I am careful with the throttle I can avoid the issue. The trans is a little sticky getting out of reverse and 5th when stopped. Any thoughts?

Also, my cruise control works intermittently. It will stop working suddenly and then when I try it again some time later it will work again.

Check your tranny mount the torque of the Cummins is hard on them, on my cruise I have to push really hard on the on/off button.
