Default fuel guage

hi everyone,my 2002 silverado's fuel guage sometimes fluctuates to empty for 20 seconds and the low fuel light comes on but then returns to correct level.Could it be the sensor on the fuel float ? the truck has 170,854 miles on it .
thanks, doc

It could be the sending unit, or it could be your gauge cluster as well

Default fuel guage

I replaced the sending unit in the tank has worked fine for a year, i found a replacement sender online instead of the whole unit for $150 or 175. the guy was a gm tech who use to work on these.sorry don't know the name of his business.
