Default Any Linux Users out there.

This is actually posted for H.R.D more so after our phone conversation but I would love to hear from other Linux users too.

Even my computer has a A-pillar gauge setup and I can monitor everything in real time. Not like you Window's Boyz... Then be fully booted up on 4oo MB of ram and no swap file catch me if you can.

Seriously?!

Here is some history...
Linux - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Basically most all web sites are ran on Linux OS of some sort. Like my web site is ran on CentOS linux. My personal computers are ran on Ubuntu Linux.

Here is all the version of Linux...
GNU/Linux Distribution Timeline

Kind of like you guys need ton load of RAM and CPU power to even fire up Windows 7... But Ubuntu Linux can be installed on a 486 processor and as little ram as 64 MB. Like my machine right now full booted up and typing this message I'm barely using 500 MB of RAM and ZERO swap file.

Another plus there is no virus problems, system is secure out of the box rarely does someone manage to hack in right away like Windows.

Hey Michael,

I downloaded Ubuntu they other day and have it running on dual boot. I like it but it seems to freeze a lot. I am not sure what is up with it. Also is there a way to get itunes over to ubuntu? I have tried using WINE but I need to download another program called PLAYON and it won't download it keeps giving me an error message. I just ordered another 1TB external hard drive, so I can back up my windows and hopefully partition a drive or do a strickly linux install, but I need to get itunes over there or its a deal breaker for me. I will give you a call sometime this week probably when my external hard drive gets here.

I tried to get Ubuntu to work with my Promise FastTrack RAID array a few years ago.

That's about as far as I got into it.

Here is about iTunes.

Like I've still got a few apps that don't function on Linux properly at all so I keep a Windows partition for that reason. For those few Windows apps that just don't work or till I find alternate apps to replace it in Linux. So you might consider using VirtualBox as a alternate method too. Then you have Windows in a Linux box and can use your iTunes. This how I deal with a few apps that are strictly windows but don't want to keep booting back and forth.

What window manager is that? I hardly use Linux on the desktop but it is my OS of choice for server and embedded platforms. You can accomplish everything on a shell anyway...
