Pump life vs pressure
Are lift pumps or injection pumps adversely effected by over sizing pressure or GPH needs of your truck? In other words, is there a negative besides cost of larger pumps? It's hard. One guys adequate pump is another guys too small.
Now that being said there is 4 things that kill VP44's
1. Fuel pressure (14-20 PSI optimal)

2. Fuel filtration (2-3 Micron Optimal)
Stock Fuel filters are OK but tighter filter does a much better job of protecting the pump.
3. Fuel Lubrcity (<450 HFRR Bosch Standards)
Mopar1973Man's Dodge Cummins Articles - HFRR testing of common diesel fuel additives
Remember today's fuel is 520 HFRR score which is a very poor score shown by Bosch below.

4. Clean DC power (<0.1 AC volts)
Mopar1973Man's Dodge Cummins Articles - Torque Converter Lock/Unlock Issues
Usually this pops up as a Transmission TQ Conv issue and people add the filter for the TQ Conv. but don't realize the AC noise from the alternator is polluting all the power for all computers and electronics. This is one of the reason for the P0215, P1688 and P1689 codes.

Great stuff! Basis for my question is that I've been quoted a price for Fass 150 that's less than I can buy the 95 for. Both with the adjustable pressure and no filter. Should I get the 150 or is it overkill for stock motor without modifications?
Volume... More volume less pressure loss from idle to WOT. Kind of like my AirDog 150.
Let's take a ride.
Close up of the gauge... (No its not colored like this... This is photochopped!)

honestly you are better off to get the filtered units because they filter to a smaller micron. a 95gph will supply enough fuel to make 600hp but either pump is fine just getting the best price is key
