Default HY35 to HX35

Hey everybody new to the forum and this is my first thread so here it goes. I'm looking to swap the old HY35 out with an HX35. First and foremost is there anything special needed for swap, or is it just a clean unbolt old, bolt up new? And second any ideas on where to find a decent used one?

Yes it does bolt exactly in place. I did the same swap on my automatic as described in my sig. When you do the swap make sure to change the oil return gasket, remove silencer ring, etc. To make it sing a little more a bigger downpipe, intake, manifold will get it done and lower egts, improve flow and make denser air. If you are running hotter injectors it will throw a overboost code, mine throws one and i have stock injectors at higher rpms.
-You can probably find a used one off a H.O. in craigslist or if ur lucky in a junkyard! Sometimes diesel shops will sell a rebuilt one or you can take a broken one in and get it rebuilt.

Yeah you will hit 35psi or so on level 5 if you put a boost elbow in the wategate line. It shouldn't throw any codes with the Edge programer.

And thing that may happen if you plug it or block it off is possible overboostin that only if you got decent stuff done to your engine. I have an adjustable elbow on mine and have it blocked off. Hasn't hurt mine.

The hx35 has a small brass elbow comin out of turbo housin with a rubber hose goin to the wastegate. Some guys just disconnect hose from wastegate side and kink it over and zip tie it closed. That doesn't let the wastegate open. Or others use an adjustable brass elbow that has a small screw you can turn in and out depending on how much boost you want to get. You can find those elbows all over the Internet just type in cummins adjustable turbo elbow and should get a lot of places pop up that sell em. I got mine off eBay for 13 bucks
