LBZ cracking pistons?
I've been reading around the internet that lbz will crack pistons under high hp ratings 500+ but I've also heard of them cracking under stock performance. How worried should I be about cracking a piston just keeping it stock or even if I add a little power with efi live. And if I do crack a piston does anyone have any idea on what that would be price wise to fix it or would it be cheaper to put a reman motor with a warranty in.
Haven't had a single issue with mine! 224,463kms strong. Dyno'd 530hp and 1092torque!! Been running that tune in my truck for 2 years.
The only way your going to crack a piston is if u keep your foot in it for long periods of time. To high egts for to long. Keep an eye on egts with a gauge and you'll be fine. Short bursts of high heat will not kill it.

Did you replace the pistons or put in a new motor? if you did how much was it?
LBZ's don't really have any issues. Pistons are the weak link if you start making big power. I've seen lots last at 600+ hp. Driving style has a big effect on how long they last at what power. I guess with a stock truck, if you kept it pegged every second you drove it, they might fail sooner than later...Or if you have a 600 Hp truck that you drove nicely, it would probably last a long time.
