afe intake
I put an afe in my 97 and it doesnt seem to have increased power or fuel economy, especially in cold temps. i had to replace the stock stuff cause i had a small boom one mornin after i sprayed some either ito filter cause it wouldnt start. i looked it over after I pulled the stock stuff out and there was no damage from my brainfart. could I have ruined air temp sensor?
possible, I would think.
if you can, check the voltage on the air temp sensor when running cold, and when running hot. I would think it'd work kinda like an O2/crank position sensor and send back a different voltage to the respective module in different temp ranges.
then you'd need to see what the "normal" numbers in those stages of running condition would be, and compare them.

care the elaborate?
my glow plugs are dead right now. every single warning i have ever seen on ether/starting fluid is to not use on vehicles with glow plug/ element starting systems.
so if the glow plugs are not functional, what other terrible issues can result form ethering a vehicle?

some people like to talk out their asses. its not recomended but if you have no glow plugs then not much will happen..... I would venture to say that old *** D4 attached to the back of his truck in his avatar has an ether assist button on the dash
Free up the exhaust first, then do the intake. It doesnt make sense to try to get more air into the engine, for intended gains, if you cant get it out through the exhaust. After that, you will see gains.
that is true..... BTW does it have ether assist? our D series loaders do but most of our 140 G's dont.
