I have a 98 Ram 24 valve cummins that will not start. On monday I was driving and felt a chug then within a minute the truck just quit. I had it towed to a diesel mechanic who changed the fuel filter and it ran just fine for about 1,000 miles. Now on Friday of same week the exact same thing happened, a chug then the truck quit as if not getting fuel. The fuel filter was changed again but now it will not start. The truck turns over but wont start. I am stuck in the boondocks with the closest diesel mechanic a Dodge dealership about 100 miles away. Trying to avoid the towing and dealership costs if possible. Please help.

 

i would be checking fuel pressure and checking for codes even if the CEL isnt on. could be a bad lift pump or bad injection pump.
