Question Custom tunes?!

Hey there everyone, very excited newbie here, I'm proud to say I just bought my very first Diesel truck! 2002 Ford F350 Lariat Crew Cab 4x4 with the 7.3L PowerStroke! It has a 4 inch lift kit with 20 inch rims and 35 inch tires, but other than that, the previous owner had left it stock, so I am about to straight pipe it with a 5 inch MBRP exhaust, do the bigboost mod, and get an AFE stage 2 cold air intake kit, and gauges. I also would like to get a TS six position tuner, and I see that it comes with stock tunes, but everyone says that "custom tunes are better." My question is, I've heard many things about these custom tunes, but I have no idea how, or where to get them, and why they are better? Do I tell the person everything about my truck and they are seriously custom made for me? I won't be towing anything over 7000lbs, and that only very rarely, it's mostly just my daily driver, but I want to be able to blow people away every once in a while too when I feel like showing off!

Here's my truck!

Thanks for your input everyone!

I would check out the new Hydra Chip from Power Hungry Performance.
