Default Do I need rebuild my engine???

I have replaced all 6 injectors. The engines had white smoke out the exhaust engine shaking real bad and a knock could be heard some fiuel was coming out the exhaust as well. After injectors were put in I still have white smoke, knocking, still shaking. No fuel out the exhaust. We now notice that the crank case vent has oil coming out. Which could explain why I go through oil. Once the engine gets up to running tempature the smoke, knocking and shaking goes away.
The mechanic thinks it is the piston rings are shot in #1 and #3 because when he shut the fuel of those cylinders the engine did shake and only dropped 50 rpm. The other cylinders shook the engine and dropped 150 rpm.
I haven't done a compression test yet. I just want to make sure it is the rings and nothing else before I spend thousands of dollars on a rebuild and that is not the problem.

Thanks...

My guess is its actually the rings in 5 and or 6. Those are the most common ones to break on the 06-07 commons rails. It normally takes about a in of the ring out. Id have him do a compression test and go from there
