Default Making an Imitation M3 FUEL PIN!!!!!

Making a M3 FUEL PIN from SCRATCH, found a bolt the same size (diameter) and going to cut it off and grind to look like a M3, I already tapped the newly made M3, to fit a 1/4 inch 20 rate thread bolt (used a 1/4 inch thread tap 20 rate threads) and it tightens up all the way on the AFC plunger gasket thing (the rubber and support plates, put a washer in for more smoke and about to cut off the bolt with a grinder, gotta be close to perfect for me so gotta be careful, then before cutting off the bolt to the M3 length, I'm going to grind out the M3 pattern for the shape of the M3 into the bolt side, also gotta be close to perfect, I'll do my best. Wish me luck with the rest for a NICE NEW FUEL PIN!

Hopefully it will be much better than an OLD SMOKEY FUEL PIN.

Have to polish it now, I cut it to length and I'll post a pic of the final product in an hour or so.

Finished product! Sort of got one more thing to do now! There is a process in which they make crankshafts and rods where they use a shaker machine of sorts and I can sort of replicate the process to align the atoms of the metal by clamping the fuel pin to a metal table and hitting the table and thus shaking the table and pin to arrange the atoms in the metal of the pin to make it harder, there is more to the explanation of this process but I just put it in crude form. It works, that's how they basically harden crankshafts and rods, except the shaker moves a foot real hard with the engine parts clamp on and comes to an abrupt stop, you may know about it or not, but it works wonders-Engineering I love it! Just talked to an engineer about it! SWEET!

Got a Grade 8 Bolt to remake this thing too with. May not be so liberal with the grinding this time around and take it slower. LOL

I hope the metal is hard enough. Ive seen a few homemade jobs groove bad fairly quickly. I would look into getting it heat treated to at least 60 rockwell.

Heat treated it and clamped it to a metal table and sort of shook it like they do the crankshafts and connecting rods if you didn't read all of the post to help.

I saw where you said you did the shaking part, but didnt see anything about heat treating. From what Ive seen, the impact hardening is very hard to get right, certain forces for different metals and sizes. Have you checked the hardness?

Like I stated, I got a grade 8 bolt to make a harder one. I just got to do it. Also I have to check the wear on the one I already made. Oh, sorry man, I was on the Adolescent Forum on facebook with a lot of new friends while I was making it, sorry, forgot to post that part, my bad.

I think I actually made something closer to a M4 or M5 cause my truck needs an advance in timing-almost.

Why not just grind the stock pin??? I'm a machinist by trade and have the access to 4140 but just too much machine time to make my own cheaper to get a Denny t... Just say. Hope it works.

its lacking the colors for being heat treated. you cant heat treat it with a lighter ,should be quenched in oil, can you say new injector pump
