Default camshaft time

really looking hard at a 188 hamilton cam. what other things would you modify as far as valve train with a new cam install? i run a 160 pump with 4k springs and 60lbs valve springs. are billet reatainers and 110 or 165 springs really needed what about HD pushrods? deffinatly want the truck to stay together but dont want to invest in over kill if i really dont need to.

hp goals are 500's with a 62mm charger and 5x12's

thanks

Colt stage 3, 110# springs, stock push rods. I debated on billet rods, and two things convinced me not to. 1, price..YIKES!!! 2, as it was brought to my attention, it's good to have a weak link in case something comes out of time.

Im with Ryan! Colt stage 3 cam. I love mine and everyone ive sold customers have loved. You could do bigger springs but you should be fine with the 60lbs you got. Or go with Industrial Injections 150 lb springs. The pushrods I would leave stock because they will bend before some hard part breaks which will be a easier fix.

didnt think of the rods as being the replacement part/weak link, very nice! will my stock retainers and keepers be alright with that kind of spring load?

Depends on what grind you go with, from what I have read you can keep the stock stuff but they do recommend changing that stuff out as well.

do i need 24 valve lifters For what your doing no, but I was thought if you change the cam you need to change the lifters. if you do go with the 24v ($75 + core)
do i need a billet cam retainer its cheep ($25) insurance so yes

and a price quote on this stuff would be swell

181 doesnt require flycuts in a 12v and a 188 does. the 188 is only a drop in on 24v. on the 12v they need like .050 flycuts to clear due to the rocker ratio difference in 12 and 24v's
