I have same issue. Currently running through all the possibilities myself. Is there fuel out the injectors? I.E. does it prime correctly? Priming is a pain as far as I am concerned. I was instructed to jump the lift pump, open up the injector lines and crank in less then 10 second intervals until fuel mist comes out of lines. ( the lack of this is apparently my issue) also make sure the glow plug relay is working putting out the right current. Mine was FUBARed the the transition and needed to be replaced. Good luck you you sir. And keep me posted on any ideas you find so I can try them too.
CPS would not cause a no start so long as optic sensor is providing signal you need to lose both.
Glows even though this is a high CR engine have to be operating properly.
For the engine that had the engine swap did installer correctly reconnect the pass side rear head intake gnds those go to the PCM and have to be in place & clean.

well im back where i started the junk yard motor i received had a grenaded injection pump. have a new one now and it wont start either. got fuel at the filter housing coming out have working glow plugs, haven't tried the cracking of injectors but i"m a little afraid to fearing that things are going to break due to rust. i"m gonna go check those ground wires now.

Open the top of the fuel filter housing then take a wire from the positive terminal on battery to the G terminal on the ALDL port under the dash this will tell you if the LP is working if fuel comes out it is probally the OPS if not the LP is bad
