You aren't missing anything. Your truck is fueling properly if it isn't smoking. There is nothing wrong with not wasting fuel...

Because there is no load on the engine or turbo. Black smoke is not a cool thing, enjoy the power not the smoke.

If you want to be a jackass and smoke, their not in park. Theyre in drive with their foot on the throttle and the brake.

Good way to increase EGT's and heat up your trans.... If ya wanna smoke someone out, nail it for a second or two (while youre rolling). You'll get a nice black puff of soot. Hell, I do it to tailgaters.

the reason why you see all that smoke on drag or sled pullers is huge aftermaket injectors very expensive and dont put the bag over the air intake its a dumb idea. people mistake smoke for power . mine does it sometimes but it gets old quick and it just kills your mpg.

by the way welcome to diesel bombers

Yea some smoke means power a black cloud of it means a waste of fuel... I missed that hes a new guy but anyhow yes Welcome to diesel bombers... My friends 99 7.3L smoke pretty good on take off with a edge juice with attitude, but if you are excessive on the smoke you can lead to dirty injectors.
