fuel additives

I seen some stuff about it but nothing defining use. What does uesing 2 stroke oil in diesel fuel do? I just put this in my 12v cummins seems to show a difference. Diesel KleenŽ +Cetane Boost. Just seeing if someone could inform me on the 2 stroke oil thing. Thanks.

But I won't add 2-stroke oil to my 6.4 POWERSTROKE:nope: only on the pre DPF trucks:c:

Chad96Dodge 05-03-2011 09:29 AM

Whats DPF stand for?

RAW 05-03-2011 09:37 AM

Diesel Particulate Filter, it catches soot to be later burned out. It's an emissions control.

Can these be removed?

Yes but you need a dpf/delete tuner:humm:

Chad96Dodge 05-04-2011 12:34 PM

So would my 96 have a DPF? and would I be safe to add 2 stoke oil? and if so how much 2 stroke oil do I add?

Truck didn't get DPF till 2007, so you're ok to add 2 stroke oil:tu:

Chad96Dodge 05-05-2011 08:25 AM

Nice. Okay How much should I add? would any one know what size fuel tank a 96 12 valv cummins would have on it. I thought I saw 36gal but not 100% could it be 31gal? thanks for the help.

01quadcab 05-09-2011 11:40 PM

one oz per gallon works well

Chad96Dodge 05-10-2011 12:04 PM

Okay great thank you. How often should I add it?

Mike H 06-18-2011 12:21 AM

my truck is also a 36 gallon tank.Yours most likely is.

New_Dog_93 06-20-2011 05:14 PM

I purchase a 250ml bottle of "low ash" 2 stroke oil from the local Canadian Tire store. I dump half a bottle in per tank when I fill. I can stuff 100L (26.5USgal) in my tank (93 D250). I've already replaced 1 VE pump and the lift pump once so I'm not taking any chance now! It gets some extra "lube" in the tank every time it gets fuel!

jdubusmc 07-22-2011 01:27 AM

i use XDPs stuff and when i run jp8 i add some used oil to it just to be safe

1993firstgennewbie 07-29-2011 05:31 PM

i just put the stoke oil in my truck yesterday STIHL high performance it seems to work pretty good ive drove 50 miles on it so far

panzer 07-30-2011 05:45 PM

So 1oz. per gallon of 2 stroke oil will be good then

that seems like a lot of oil....34oz. per tank???

What kind of 2 stroke oil is best and is there any that i should

stay away from ? I know i dont want to have replace any more fuel system parts

so this sounds like a good idea if it indeed does work

panzer 08-04-2011 01:22 AM

so i went to the local lawn mower shop (mower needs fixed) and i priced some of these
2 stroke oils....cheapest i found was $1.17 an Oz.

yall got any ideas where i might get it cheaper or is there a cheaper way of keeping the
fuel system lubed ? ? ?

diesel pap 08-04-2011 07:49 AM

you can get supertech at walmart for about 12.00 a gal.

yakdaddy42 09-04-2011 05:28 PM

I used to use Lucas fuel additive with great results, but I read on a different Diesel board about 2 Cycle oil from Wally world. It runs quieter feels like it has more power and got about .5 to 1 mpg better mileage. Im getting almost 19 in town loaded down with equipment and towing a trailer.

gd1996 10-14-2011 01:38 AM

Probally been answered here somewhere, but does it cause them to smoke? I know what happens when you accidentally put mixed gas in a gasser.

4x4manonbroke 10-20-2011 10:56 AM

i used synthetic 2 cycle ...... BAD IDEA.... stick with ATF people it has detergent that will keep your injector tips cleaner that 2 cycle could ever do .... and it burns great i usually run 1 qt every tank if im towing and 1 qt every other if not and i have no O/D .... i get 20
I swear by it always..... the 2 cycle was not a good idea ... 7.3idi didn't like that one bit

gunman41mag 10-23-2011 12:59 PM

If your truck has a DPF, i wouldn't use 2 cycle oil, ATF, motor oil:nope::td:
