Oil Analysis

Who's doing it and how often? Just wanted to get a feel for how many on here are doing it and what kind of intervals people are running.
I know 06 diesel is and we are anxiously waiting for his results.
Also what labs are we using? I heard Blackstone used a bit. I might try them next time as well.
Any info you want to share would be great:U:

I use Blackstone almost every oil change....any time i switch oils or do anything different to the truck that could have an effect on the oil, i want to see how it does at the 5k mile make and see if i can extend its use based on the results of the analysis. I was disappointed in Rotella syn. as it didn't hold up 10k miles as i was lead to believe it would. I am going to switch oils again next change and I will do another blackstone sample at 5k miles with that oil.

I am running the AME 15w-40 and am going to do one at 10,000 miles.
It is the sampling kit that Amsoil sells. I might try and find a more reasonably priced one.

The lab results are

The dealer said that there is nothing wrong, they checked for the dye and found none. But they only put about 4 oz in the antifreeze, that was then dilluted into the antifreeze and if any got into the oil it also was dilluted even more. I have "give: with trying to get them to fix anything that might be wrong with it. They said that the analysis said it was ok so why am I worrying about it. I might :se: myself later but I am going to :bombin: the rig this weekend since I already have it sitting in my room just waiting for me.

I use Blackstone Labs as you can see by my analysis, but them in bulk they are cheap and they never expire. I am going to do a sample after 7500 this time since that is what they suggested. The analysis is a up front cost that saves you money in the long run if you want to extend your oil change intervals I highly recomend them. Mine cost me $17 each when I bought 6 of them at a time. Also remember that if you are doing it to extem your change interval make sure that you get a TBN done also.

I knew you had the results. I spoke wrong. Knew we were waiting on the dye test. Curious. I guess we'll see how it pans out down the road.

I use Amsoil 15-40 and do my analysis every 8K and usually have to change at about 25K. Using www.oilanalyizers.com of course. :D

Well at least it's lasting as long as they say it should.:U:

I have dropped my interval from 7500 down to 5000- the conditions in which I drive my have gotten harder on the engine. About 2 hours a day city driving on the truck- all stop and go, heavy traffic. I am switching from Blackstone and Terry Dyson (only due to convenience) to Cat SOS analysis. It's cheaper for me and if I ask nicely, I could probably get my results back in a day. The oil lab is right across the street from the shop I work in and the shop is the same company as the oil lab.:U:

Yep, and thats just using the oil and EA052 filter. I'm going to install the by-pass kit because I know a guy who gets 60K between changes using nothing but Amsoil, the EA filters, and the by-pass filtration kit.
