Injector Cleaner
 

Whats are you guys using for injector cleaner? My injectors seem to keep sticking on cold starts and the general conscencis from my diesel shop is that I should start with running a cleaner as that being the least expensive option.

I run Howe's Lubricator in every tank and no issues yet. I heard Diesel 911 is good but haven't tried it yet.

If you "use" your truck like a truck, odds are you won't have a problem with what you've described. Our trucks are built to "WORK".......and work HARD when they do. They ain't designed to "commuter/grocery getter" vehicles. Almost 107K on my truck with stock injectors. My bud replaced his injectors at 205K.........he's a farmer and hauls and tows mega weight though!!! Biut stilll!!!!

I did use my truck like a truck was supposed to be used until I started building it. I don't haul with it anymore, thats why I got the 07. For the most part its pretty much parked now, unless I'm going on a all highway trip out of state. In town driving with it is nearly impossible because I can't get a long enough run between lights to get the aurora 5000 to light. But the injector(s) are only sticking on cold starts

Power service is what I use. by the time you use a bottle it should be cleaned up.

I heard using AMS OIL 2 stroke one ounce per 5 gallons is great to lube and clean them, I have been using the power service diesel at twice the amount, the last few tanks and you can tell the difference, because I spent to much time in town and not doing any long heavy runs.

I try to make sure I get I make a long heavy loaded trip with a trailer to clean things up at least twice a year and sometimes I get paid for it.

Hmmm... I've been using Walmart 2 Cycle Oil (128:1 ratio) now for 70K miles and 4 years. It that time I've managed to increase my MPG from 16-17 AVG MPG. to 21-22 MPG AVG with a MAX MPG of 25.3!!!

Never bothered to use a single injection cleaner. I use a good 2 micron fuel filter and hook up a trailer and haul a nice heavy load get the pyro up to about 1,000*F to 1,200*F for 7-10 miles and cook everything clean.

As for the Dodge fuel system they have a Edge Filter before the injector that traps the debris and then beats it into smaller particles that will past the injector. Once again it just better to use a 2 micron filter in the first place..

But as for injector cleaner they are not needed!

I have used power service and it made a difference in a 1st gen, but I'm just prepping to replace injectors and nozzles on my Mercedes. Don't know the history, and it's got 228k on it.

You let it idle a lot??

Mornin' people.:hellox:i have been a fan of the Lucas injector cleaner for years.One little bottle or two in every tank.It doesnt have any solvent in it.Called the 800 number and talked with people there and that was the only info that they could give out.I have asked some of our countrys finest trucker drivers(thank ya"ll for gettin' your loads there so we can eat:tu:) and they said if i use it in my"PETE" u can use it in your dodge cummins!I was told that years ago and i still use it today>never tried 2 cycle oil.seems lots of folks like it!!
