I believe the additives you might be referring to are for controlling soot and combustion byproducts. They should be fairly well depleted before it's drained from the crankcase. :pca1:

Don't need anything in the fuel to clean my fuel system. My fuel goes through both primary and secondary Racors, 14 and 2um. If it's not clean when it goes in the tank, it's cleaner than most after it circulates through them for awhile. :w2:

yea I've herd of Centinel system, and it's in big rigs not out little pick-ups. Also bigger injectors and pistons. Besides it's nowhere near as clean as fresh oil!!! lol There is no replenishing burnt oil, and the Centinel system is auto-fed and usually pulled from crankcase before it's burnt up too bad. :argh:

Hey Tinman, post some pics of that sweet looking rig you got!! :rocking:

Yet another brilliant demonstration of Donny's astounding comprehension of diesel technology! :lol88:

it's cleaner than the new oil you pour out of the jugs brought home from the store
You can't honestly mean this. I am intrigued of the system though.. Do you know what color base stock is? Do you know why "new" oil is the color it is? Base stock is clear in color, and what gives oil its "color" is the additive package. That is why some oils are darker than others.

This was a good show, it showed the viewer from start to finish at the factory. but you'll get a glimpse at the base oil....which is mobil..... Royal Purple Indaependent Videos

I run Power Service Cetane boost and usually 1 qt. of new ATF per fill up.

Dang youngsters. :w2:

Here's my current WMO filtration setup:

Holds 4 gallons, 2 stages, 10um and submicronic with a pump to circulate it until it's cleaner than the new oil you pour out of the jugs brought home from the store. :rocking:

Looks like a centrifugal system, isn't it?
Thats pretty cool!:tu:

Otherwise I could mention that it is approved that particles in the range of 1 micron do the the most harm in an engine.:w2:

I'm still wondering. In Europe it is total unusual to use additives. Car manufactures state in their manuals to use only quality fuel- Which is total usless because fuel has a Level: EN509.
Only premium fuel is better and contains just a higher Cetane number than the standard of 49.

They have added up to 7% of Bio Diesel to conserve rescources by law.
2 stroke oil is almost used by everyone driving a rare or old engine.
Sulphur is now at the same low level as the US Standard. Which really p..... me off.

Thats my reason to use 2 stroke oil.
But no additives, or flow improvers or anti-gelling stuff. Cleaning agents like that Lubro Moly stuff are only sold through professional car parts stores.

Thank you, Tinman for providing information!

ive been told that you can get filters that can filter out all the carbon and even the additives

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

hey nadirpoint how does your system work?

Centrifugal systems can filtrate all carbon and soot- but not the additives.

But contaminated oil is still contaminated even after being "cleaned".
How do you want to get rid of all small particles?

wes-cummins 02-17-2010 09:07 AM

an instructor at tech school told me that there submicron filters for hydraulic servo valves, and he said that they were used on engine oil that they would actually take out the additives, im not sure how true this tho

NadirPoint 02-17-2010 09:12 AM

Diesels running ULSD need a fuel lubricity additive to avoid premature wear in the fuel pumping and injection systems.
