Diesel For Lawn Mower??
I have a Jon Deere SST. These are zero turn units that look like a small garden tractor, but the front wheels are casters. There are many nay-sayers about these, but mine has done the work of a small tractor and is holding up well. This mower uses a OHV 18HP Briggs. It is a V twin in a vertical shaft configuration. It is a good engine, but except for this mower, my push mower, and a small truck my fleet is diesel. I want to keep just one fuel around. Without 'braking the bank' is there a vertical shaft diesel make that I might be able to put in this for under $2000?:w2: I think a 15HP diesel would put out as much as the current 18HP gas.

i didn't see a vertical shaft. wouldn't be a bad idea to call them and see if they can find something fer ya...... hope this helps.... |
i think Yanmar makes diesel out boards that are vertical shaft.
maybe you could buy just the engine? |
It would be a good idea to change out that v twin Briggs.... i hear nothing but bad about them dudes.

my buddy has an older Kubota with a 52 mowing deck for $2000.
3 point hitch and chains. It has like 200 hours on it |

Its like a mid to late 80s tractor but it runs awesome.
it is just a bit bigger than a garden tractor. If I had 2000 beans I would snag it. |
the only problem i can forsee is mounting a radiator but heres one

Yanmar 2V750 was designed to go on garden tractors. Water cooled with a radiator and fan. V-twin, vertical shaft
