MF165 Diesel Leaking Into Motor Oil

I got a Diesel Massey 165 with the Perkins motor in it and my oil keeps comin up way over full. I can't figure out if it's diesel leakin into it or hydraulic fluid. But it's leakin bad enough that after a few hours use it's blowin oil out the exhaust.

Lookin for any ideas here.

sounds like injectors or fuel pump leaking thru to me, does the oil have a fuel smell to it?

Uncle Bubba 04-09-2009 08:08 PM

I tried the sniff test but they all smell the same to me, Hydraulic oil, motor oil and diesel, can't tell the difference. Yer talkin to a fool that has had the nose broke twice and two sinus surgeries to try an fix em. Not much sniffer left.

I guess the oil analysis should be in order.

had the same thing happen to my 50 perkins. had the ip worked on but that was not the cause. it was the line that goes to the preheat on manifold. i shut that and no more diesel in eng oil. it cant be hyd fluid. it is diesel

you will see that line going to preheat. shut it and no more diesel

i believe the 65 could have a hydraulic power steering pump on the timing cover but if its the kind im used to it would be empty with about 2 quarts and u wouldnt have power steering and the oil wouldnt get any fuller. as everyone knows with the rotary pump it could be the front seal goin bad. or like the other guys said about the preheat or injectors. but if its fillin up that fast it must have a big hole to enter through, like the front pump seal

I don't know much about Massey but we had a Kubota that did the same thing and the seal in the hyd pump was bad and pumping hyd oil into the crankcase

the preheat line can get so bad that it can blow head gasket. the power steering holds very little.

the hyd pump is in the bottom of tractor below seat. it is not connected to eng to where it could get in there
