Don't know if it's somethin your interested in or not cause it's not diesel but I have a Kawasaki engine Model number FB460V commercial grade engine that has been sittin in my basement for way to long now. My neighbor had one a those blue colored zero turn mowers that he wore the steering cones out on and thougt he'd fix it himself. Well he got it apart and then never put it back together so he was throwin it all out in pieces and I snagged it. The motor ran great when he pulled it apart, just been sittin for a while now but should still be fine. I bet we could make a deal on it if your interested.

thats the mower right there the only problem is that the drive shaft hooks to the flywheel and the eletric clutch hooks to the 1" shaft.

just be ready to re do all the gearing/ pullies, if you go diesel, way lower rpm out of the engine. Plenty of power, just made down lower.

The jd is a hydrostic drive, will that make a diffrence in the rpm range? It is a 14hp pos kohler would a 12 or 10 hp diesel work?BTW I have a Massey 135 diesel but I don't beleve the wife would enjoy me mowing the lawn with it I never had a minute of trouble with it.I have started it in 14 degree weather without a block heater it started on the 3rd crank!!My gramdfather has a farmall cub I would love to mow the lawn with it but wife would kick my butt agian.
