New and I don't know what to do
I received a 2003 f350 7.3l powerstroke for my birthday and I'm lost when it comes to selecting turners and exhaust systems, intake systems and etc. Any feed back would be a big help thanks :humm:

Get yourself some gauges,( egt and trans if auto, and boost). Tuner, search tony wildman! And for the exhaust get rid of the muffler and cat if it has one.
|
think about a cold air intake and a down pipe off the turbo too.
|
cold air (i prefer S&B), 4" turbo back straight exhaust, and then a custom 6 pos. chip from someone of your choice, i love my PHP (power hungry performance) tunes, best of luck :c:

Intake - DIY Tymar ~70
Exhaust - 4" down, 4" or 5" straight ~500-800 Turbo - Wicked Wheel ~120 Tuner - TS chip from PHP, total diesel performance (Tony Wildman), Swamps, Beans, or a DP Tuner (Jody Tipton)~350 Gauges - isspro or autometer, Pyro, boost, trans temp, 3 gauge pillar pod ~400 Change all the fluids so you know where you stand, oil, trans, front and rear differentials, transfer case. Change the oil, fuel, and trans filter. |

be careful with adding tuners of HIGH HP to your truck. that model year, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, has PMR Rods. they will disintegrate if pushed to their upper limits.
that being said a mild tune for towing is fine, but an all out race tune may not end well..... |

that being said a mild tune for towing is fine, but an all out race tune may not end well..... He got on a good straight stretch and introduced the skinny pedal to the fire wall. That sumbich went like mad for a few good runs before we heard a bang and watched smoke role out from every gap under the hood. We pulled over on the shoulder a few miles from town and watched all of the oil drain out of the block were a rod punched right through. It was a bum deal and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. The truck you got will be a fun run around truck and very well may last you for years of fun and reliability. Just do your research here and try to listen to all of the advice you get. There are tons of good people on the internet forums that are eager to help...... there are also a lot of guys on the internet that have no clue what they are talking about. When I was learning about this stuff I asked lots and lots of stupid questions. If you find a guy that really seems to know his $hit, latch on and learn as much as you can before shot gunning parts under the hood. :c: |
