how to question

how can i mount my 6 pos. chip so its not dangling from underneath my steering wheel? i would like to have it in a set spot so i don't have to search for it going down the road ha, any help is appreciated

i just pulled my dash apart and found a good place to mount it that had room behind for the wire and stuff and drilled the hole.
takes more time to find a good spot, than anything else, the install is a snap.
mine was on a 95 but it was right next to the cubby hole on the right side of the steering column

When you look at the switch you will see a small allen head screw in the bottom of the knob. Remove it and the knob will come off. Then you will see a nut (brass) and the "stud" you need to drill for. Be careful as there is a limiter ring under that brass nut that keeps the switch at 6 settings.

Drill the hole ( I think its 1/4" but don't quote me) and then push the switch thru from the back side. Put the nut on, tighten it down snugly and reinstall the knob. Its not hard at all.

Years and years of doing it wrong... Years and years of working on them... Years and years of reading these forums...

Not to mention about 60k in parts for all of them over the years...:argh:

I try not to think about that part...

Thanks!:bat:

This is how I mounted mine...

fordornothing 08-20-2011 09:26 PM

I'll be putting mine to the right of my steering wheel or next to my 4WD switch if it's long enough.

Joe- where did you get your 4 gauge pod around the factory gauges?

CSIPSD 08-21-2011 12:38 AM

Its an Autometer pod, that is modded to hold 4 gauges... Hole saws make dandy modifiers... LOL

fordornothing 08-21-2011 02:46 PM

alright. i'll check into it.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

maybe it's just me but i can't find it.

Riffraff Diesel: Dual Gauge Cluster Bezel

fordornothing 08-22-2011 07:43 PM

thanks! in the picture it looks like the lower spot is actually meant for a gauge. fancy hole saw!

CSIPSD 08-22-2011 10:24 PM

The one on the left is a bugger, you have to be careful or your drilling into the factory gauge bezel...:ouch:

The right side is wide open.

fordornothing 08-23-2011 07:00 PM

good to know. I'll be gettin that and some guages after my vacation. i'm getting the isspro performax. and i'm getting boost and pyro. what others do you recommend? it's a manual so i don't really needs trans temp... and with that pod, does it just clip to the factory dash piece?
