MPG!!!!!!! READ

I got a 08 mega cab 4x4 done the dpf delete with 5 in exhaust. Getting about 19 highway not pulling anything. Seen people claiming they get 25mpg? where if there is anyway can I see this mileage???.:td:

sthrnrider 02-21-2012 09:14 PM

Haha..I would like to see that as well.

dieselbomb87 02-21-2012 09:26 PM

it would be nice!

CUMMINONYOU89 02-21-2012 10:11 PM

Man don't be fooled by the the guy that was goin down the freeway with cruise set and hit that MPG avg. Reset button and the number sky rocket lol. I've been driving my '09 with deletes an smarty jr on performance for about 6 months now. Ive seen between 15.5 and around 23 mind you I got 23 24 towards the end of a 5 mile hour trip @ about 75-80 mph where mostly was slight down hill not much to notice an no head wind.

BIGHORN08 02-21-2012 11:01 PM

If your talking about THAT guy, that would be me. I've had my display jump to 26. NOW, what I also said on the post below that was I can't say that would be my actual mileage, but I haven't seen it jump over 18 in town before I did the deletes. I hadn't driven a complete tank on it when that was posted. I calculated last tank was 17.34 mpg. But I'm anxious to run a full tank on the highway. I still think I'll be very surprised with the mileage

NadirPoint 02-21-2012 11:18 PM

I've found the OH MPG calculation to be pretty accurate when the speedo is properly calibrated. The thing you have to remember though is, it's a cumulative real-time estimate. One time after resetting mine up at the continental divide, I saw it go near 100 before I started uphill again somewhere down near the RMNP park entrance.

CUMMINONYOU89 02-21-2012 11:29 PM

Not tryin to stir the pot man just replied to this guys tread I didn't see yours. I have yet to put a full tank down on the freeway in one trip I would be curious how many miles you could pull from a tank Tho cuz with me drivin in town I have a heavy foot lol I think if I remember if my gauge reads around 18-19 and I fill up it says 600 miles till empty if I had the time an money I'd put it to the test haha

*5 hour trip*

Rail 02-22-2012 08:25 AM

my mileage varies, has an H&S blackmaxx, 5 inch stainless pipes, 280/70 17's, and a K&N intake, put on earlier in the year. Pulling a load it jumps depending on the terrain, load, winter, summer, yatta, yatta, yatta, average about 16 with a heavy load in winter. Summer down about 14mpg. Just up and down the road with no load depends on trips, longer trips I get better mileage, yes 22mpg which is about double before the mods. If I have to drive the short runs around town during the week the mileage suffers down to about 15-16mpg. If I put the bigger tires on mileage suffers, but WRGAS when you are barking over 500hp and able to engulf a Prius in a cloud of smoke that leaves residue at the carwash for them!!! :jump:

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

and PS I had to work with H&S thru about 5 downloads and reprogramming with my 08 quad cab 4x4 until mileage got anywhere above 12. finally with the last update things leveled out and it doesn't run like a bad cammed camaro on regular gas left in the tank for two years.

BIGHORN08 02-22-2012 06:32 PM

Okay. Well I guess that's what I get for assuming. When I posted that I just knew I would get some comments, so I assumed someone would degrade it in one way shape or form. No worries. But like I said, I got 17 with barely hitting the freeway; and if anyone's got a lead foot, it's me:w2: So I can't wait to see what it'll do babying it all the way to east Texas this summer. I'm willing to bet somewhere in the 20s, but I may be wrong. I got 17 last summer heading to Texas before the deletes. That was calculated.:9: And I got 14 babying it in town. If I don't see a drastic increase on the highway I'm gonna be royally pissed:gunner:

CUMMINONYOU89 02-24-2012 08:49 PM

Yeah man I'm more then happy with what I see so far with mine since deletes I drive close 90 miles a day for work there an back throw a couple small towns no freeway an lately I've been doin about 60 to 65 to see how much I can get that average to climb and today I hit 18.9 that's with passing big rigs and slower cars on the road. I work in the oilfields out here in bakersfield and with on a few ways the get there traffic tends to get bunched up

ryan6.7 03-04-2012 08:44 AM

On my truck i got up to 22mpg due to being in 6th gear and cruising around 60mph.. (took back roads to a party that was about a 2 hr drive.) the deletes i had done at the time was the dpf, and k&n intake, and edge tuner..

Billy D 03-04-2012 10:42 AM

My cousins 09, 6 speed, 2wd, stocker is still getting 16.5 hand calculated driving like a grandpa:td:

vcustoms86 03-05-2012 02:45 PM

I never trust my overheads. The one in my 2000 is usually 1-2 miles off of what Im actually getting. My 07 is everywhere though :scare2: I never even look at it. My 07 gets 19-21 hand calculated. :c:

Ramzilla 03-29-2012 03:34 AM

I'm on 40's and 4.56s and the other mods in my sig, and My overhead never goes below 17mpg, Hand calculated I'm around 15mpg average. When I moved last september, I drove 1200 miles most of which I drove around 75mph, and was between 15-16mpg, hand calculated, the entire trip. When I had 37's I was averaging 19mpg, and the overhead would be around 21-22mpg. My overhead is usually around 2mpg higher than my hand calculations.

Did you ever get the ECM reprogrammed for tire size when changing tires?

I use the mini maxx to recalibrate for tire size and double check it with a GPS to make sure my speed is correct.

wingfoot99 11-09-2013 02:40 PM

Just bought an '07.5, 6.7. 13 mpg on first tank. Whew! Help!how do I get to 20 mpg and how much will that cost?

BIGHORN08 11-11-2013 03:43 AM

Fuel Mileage

Good luck with 20. If its a 4x4 or a dually you'll be lucky to get 18. I get 16 to 17 on a regular basis, but that's about it. If you wanna get CLOSE to 20, get a Smarty or H&S tuner, straight turbo back exhaust and that's it. Some people say get a cold air intake too, but I've heard bad things, like lower MPG, unless you're pushing 600+ HP. If you need a how-to for installation, there's carbonitecummins.com for complete instructions. Happy Truckin':choochoo:

24 witnessed by others

Stock tires, nothing big, no load in truck, good tune up, H$S black maxx, route Utah border to Denver over I-70. Over and Back. No big accelerations, smooth transitions. two guys with me, 24mpg round trip, no trailer. All Amsoil lubricants. miles on truck approx., 25000. Bigger tires, lift kit, maxx tuner, tool box in the back, two smaller guys, same route mileage ran 18 round trip.

diesel pap 11-12-2013 11:22 AM

stock 6.7

Is there a tuner that can be used on the bone stock 6.7 and achieve extra mpg? (without the deletes):argh:

GbryTxCtryBy 09-23-2014 05:15 PM

There are several chips that can be used on a stock truck... However, without the deletes, your MPG gain is going to be meager. The EGR delete itself will improve fuel economy. The atmosphere around us is 20%ish oxygen 79%ish nitrogen and 1%ish other gasses. To have fire you need 3 simple things in sufficient quantity. Oxygen, fuel, and heat. All that said, imagine replacing 10% of that oxygen with carbon monoxide, could you breathe? Sure but it would be hard and you (a human) wouldn't last long. Would fire be possible? An extremely small flame might start, but it would not be very sustainable with diesel as the fuel. That's basically what an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system does.

recent trip from central louisiana to dallas, about 500 miles, all highway. going - with about 1200 lbs of people and stuff in the truck, cruise set at 70 pretty much the whole way - the truck did 16.4 hand calculated. coming back, with the truck exactly the same but pulling a ~18k 28' triaxle cargo trailer with a 9' interior height, cruise set most of the way at 60-65 and in tow/haul mode, the truck did 9.6 hand calculated.

lie-o-meter on the way there said 16.9, and on the way back it said 9.1. on stock trucks, the OH isn't too far off. i recall it was routinely about 15% high on my 06 when tuned, and about 20% high when i put the 19.5"x7.5" rims and toyo MT608Zs on it and used the smarty to compensate for the tires.

can't wait to see what the thing will do with deletes and EFI.

SavageCummins 01-18-2016 07:55 PM

One thing to check into is your J35 recall sometimes sensors get clogged with soot which our trucks make alot of :lol88: . So the best thing to do is call dodge and see if your truck is up for a j35 recall and it could be your sensor just playing tricks on you
