Hollowing out the dpf?

Can the dpf be taken off, hollowed out and reinstalled as a dpf delete? I know I'd have to run a smarty or another programer to make it work.. It would probably be easier to just buy a delete kit but I'd like to keep the stock apearance in case they start checking for these here in OK. Is there anyone who has done this?

This is pretty much what's inside of them. This is from an old converter off my 06.

But yeah, you can hollow em out and reinstall the housing.

Does it sound ok after this is done? I mean does it sound like a regular CR?

Well, here's what my 06 sounds like without a cat, and with an Aeroturbine.

You'll get a lot more whistle from the turbo for sure, especially with the EB on and a cold start. I've only seen people weld some piping for a straight through design when hollowing it out. I'd just get a delete pipe or make one. That DPF is an expensive piece of.....junk...

next time you do a cold start and turn on the eb. put your truck on a high idle using the crusie control.. It sounds sick!!:rocking:

How do you use the cruise to put it on high idle?

If its a manual, put it in neutral and put the parking brake on. turn on cruise control and hit the set button, should go to about 1100-1200 rpms.

If an auto put it in park and do the same thing.

My manual doesnt do it, and the dealership says they cant set it up to do it.
