What mods has he done? How fast was he going and on what terrain? Tailwind? With the right mods and smart driving, 25 or 30 mpg should be no problem on level highway. If he's pulling a bunch of weight or going up and down hills alot that'll suffer, as it will in stop and go driving, but you shouldn't dismiss it just because you don’t get the same milage on your way to the mall during rush hour.

Do you own/drive a 6.7CTD on a regular basis? 25-30 mpg with a 4x4 dually with this motor is flat out a lie. (unless you do a lot of downhill coasting in neutral with the motor off.) No problem on a level highway? First off, the front axle is constantly dragging, as there are no hub lockouts. I have a 6.7 and 24v. 25 mpg out a Cummins 4x4 Dually is far from reality. You can do free spin hub kits, electric fans, and any other trick to a one ton dually and it wont get 25mpg. Anyone that has been around diesels long enough knows that 25mpg is a reach for a 2wd let alone a 4x4 dually.

Hey boilerdonkey, sorry for hijacking your thread with our pissing match. As was stated earlier in the conversation, the overhead display fuel economy readout is generally rather optimistic, especially on these trucks, so you'll have to divide the miles driven by the gallons consumed to get an accurate fuel economy figure. Diesel tends to form a foam when dispensed into the tank, so you'll have to give it time to settle and top it off slowly to get the tank to a consistent level for accurate calculations.

Nope I don’t. My gas burner gets decent fuel economy empty, everybody says diesels are more efficient, I guess they lie.:w2:
