Cant find cause of shutter

just bought 08 3500 has a shutter felt at 68-72 mph, clears up above and below, balanced and rotated tires, removed front driveshaft, changed steering stabilizer and tie rod on pitman arm, nothing has changed, any ideas???

could be a bad rear u joint, carrier bearing, bent rear drive shaft. My 06 had a really bad shutter and i ended up replacing all the rear u-joints and carrier bearing and the problem has never shown up since. my 05 started to get a shutter like this too and it ended up beign a front wheel u-joint so i replaced em both

Damn trucks...mine has this but have to date found no fix. New joints, tires, checked driveshaft. Still nothing. I would think if it was something in the tranny or rear end it would have fallen apart by now? I've driven it 20k+ with the problem. Irritating!!

new u- joints in still shuttering, took it to dodge told them they should fix it they re- balanced and road forced the tires still isnt better, now i'm fighting with them since it has 64,000mi. they dont want to touch it.

If I run it up to 75mph and drop it into neutral, it runs smooth as silk, so it only occurs when you are in the gas.

i tried that and it still shutters comming back down through 70ish, wish i could figure it out it driving me crazy, dodge said they are looking for a driveshaft to swap in to see if that would fix it.

also if you have the 2 piece drive shaft, swapping it out to the one piece is a big help also if its not tranny related shudder.

beerlvr 10-19-2010 08:19 AM

not sure if that is my problem , my truck is 100% bone stock for now, and it is a 1 piece driveshaft, i just want to figure it out before i do my deletes

Does it shudder at those speed while crusing or while accelerating and pushing through that speed. We have ran into a lot of torque converter shudder while on the throttle around that speed.

beerlvr 10-19-2010 08:29 PM

both but worse if you just stay at 70, it comes and goes a little, and doesn't start till i get a few miles down the road when everything warms up..

filed a claim with dodge customer service they had me bring it back to dealer they suppost to pay for the repairs, should know in a few days what is causing it.
