sorry all knowing god of diesel performance, I'm gonna go ahead and trust AFE when there is people using their filters on engines making well over 1000hp, and if someone wants to change their intake it's their prerogative he didn't ask the question what intake should i get? banks or S&B? or should i leave it stock? he simply asked whether he should get a banks of S&B

There are many engines making over 2000hp with no air filters at all. You should do that instead and see how long your engine lasts.
