It is an additional item in line on the exhaust system that helps trap soot and other material that would normally be released into the atmosphere. The trapped particles are then burned off during the regeneration cycle. High exhaust temps are used to perform this. That is the reason for Fords louvered dual tips. They are used to assist cooling the exhaust system and pull cooler air around the tips.

I am sure I don't have all the details listed. I haven't read up extensivly on the new emissions regs. I hope it is a long time before I own a vehicle that has them.

Good deffinition, its the same setup Chevy and Dodge have they just go about it different ways.

Some dealers could possibly VOID your warranty if a problem occcurs.

The SCT system is getting you to about 18 mpg. The Spartan system will get you to about 20 mpg. The Spartan system will turn off the DPF in all tunes. No one else does. In the last couple weeks we have sold many of both with no problems from either. With the Spartan system he can also do a 270 hp tune for extra cabbage. I personally like the Spartan system better for the fact that all tunes are DPF delete.

most of the time the stealership will make a fuss about the dpf gone and about how its against the law but as far as voiding the warranty they have to prove that particular product or piece of equipment caused the problem.

Just put it back in and tune the truck to stock. Problem solved.

Then you need to explain why your tail pipe is also covered with soot.
:humm:

Spray it down with purple power and rinse, repeat if needed. If you did that everytime you washed your truck it would come off easy.

underware: brown in back, yellow in front. Any other questions?

Life isn't this hard lol.:poak:

We just picked up an 08 F450 6.4 dump body at work! It's one helluva built truck but holy crap on the mileage! The dash is readin 7.8mpg avg! Will it improve a bit once broke in?

Just read up on the tuners for the 6.4

I was surprised by all the feed back on the turners recommended for the 6.4. One is off the market (the KEM) and the other (Sparten) has some major bugs. Are there any out there that are reliable and won't void my warranty??

Just bought my new 2008 F450 Crew Cab 4x4 dually Fully loaded and I need a little advise on upping the HP and mileage.

I already have a 1975 F-250 4x4 400 hp balanced 390 4x4 18" lift 40" mudders, 2004 4x4 F-250 Crew Cab 8" lift 40" mudders, 2002 F350 Crew Cab 4x4 dually Fully loaded, chipped, 1999 F350 4x4 chipped and over 300,00 miles on the original engine and trans., and several lesser F250's and a Ford Tractor. As as my photo shows I've owned at least 6 other Ford trucks of various years and models.

Let's just say I'm into Ford Trucks.
