What transmission are you even talking about? The 4R100 or the new 6R140? Either way, the 5R110 is NOT your limiting factor in speed right now, so why change it? I'm with Goose here, you have a long way to go with power before thinking about a transmission swap. The 5R110 is probably one of the best trannies to have at your power level anyways, since a stock one will hold that all day long.

I think it would be cool to put the 6R140 behind a 6Leaker. It isn't "necessary" but would be a cool mod. Its kinda like exhaust. :choochoo:

Yeah I mean I am not definitely doing it. I just wanted to hear some thoughts because I am like newman and think it would be a cool mod. And I know everyone runs built 5r but I thought a built 6r would be unique. I just don't want to lose power from doing it. And for goose 350 I am planning on putting a procharge with a bigger turbo and injectors just haven't figured out the setup I want to run yet. And I want to build the trans before I do it.

There's a 6.4 drag truck running around 1200rwhp and he's going to a 4R100 last I knew.

Being unique doesn't always get you down the track the fastest. Go with what works. People trying new stuff usually end up spending a lot more to find that they don't get what they want.

Ok you make a good point there I will probably just build my 5r why would he go to a 4r though

The 4R can be tuned to shift the same every time where a 5R has "learning" where it tries to adapt to how you drive. Thats why when you load a tune you have to put some miles on it before it starts shifting right.

He's going to a 4R because the 5R can't shift fast enough going down the track with that much power behind it. 4 speeds is less shifting than 5 speeds. A lot of Chevy guys go to Dodge trannies and run 48RE's. They can be built to hold a ton of power.
