Best gauges for 6.0?

I have an SCT X3 and EGR delete on the way. Gauges I am considering are pyro, Oil temp, and Fuel pressure. Should I be looking at something else? Shold any of these be swapped for something else? If not, what temp should the oil typically be? Gauges I have found max out at either 280 or 340, not sure which one to get. I got a lot of work ahead but I'm damn near too excited to sleep at night.

Thanks, Tyler

i was looking along the same lines ..same three gauges...

i was thinking volt meter ...truck does not have one to let you the batteries are not charging:td:

Whistlindixie, I'd go for the 4 gauge pod and get the coolant temp too. Oil temp by itself or coolant temp by itself isn't as important as having both of them side by side to monitor the differences in temps. This difference is what tells you if your oil cooler is getting plugged up or not.

Just get a Edge Insight. It will monitor everything you need except fuel pressure.

Just got rid of the Juice w Attitude. That thing was junk. I lost two solenoids in the tranny and I couldn't use an automatic carwash because the damn thing wouldn't seal off right. After washing it, I'd get down the road, shut off the truck and it wouldn't start. If you spend $500+ on a programmer, you shouldn't have to cover it in silicone to make sure it works. One time it was raining and showed that my EGTs were at 2300 degrees. Another time I pulled over in the middle of BFE Louisiana at 3am and the damn thing wouldn't start. I had to uninstall it on the side of the road with a Gerber multitool. Sorry about the rant, but I was pissed that I wasted my money when #2 was selling for over $5 per gallon

Edge programmers suck. The Insight is top notch. That's the best bang for the buck.

And there is no wiring. It plugs into the obdII port.

Gettin a quote on the 4 gauge. Added coolant temp. I'm goin with Isspro EV2s. They are all electric. I already have the manifold tapped for the pyro. Think Ill run into any problems with the other installs (coolant temp, oil temp, fuel pres)?

Mdub707 10-30-2010 04:35 PM

whistlindixie, I just bought myself some EV2's for fuel pressure and fuel level (for my WVO tank in the bed). I had Dipricol Optix (still do actually) but looks like they went out of business. The EV2 is almost identical in the way it works and looks, all electric full sweep LED lit gauges. Top of the line. You should be fine with the install if you're a wrench turning kind of guy. Hardest part on my original install was finding the dimmer wire so the gauges would dim with the rest of the gauges in the truck already. Not bad at all.

Again, I know I've said this before. Any gauge reader that plugs into the OBD port is just reading what the truck already sees. What happens if there is an issue with your truck and it says your trans temp is 500 degrees. Obviously you know it's not, but your insight still thinks the same. I've also heard the factory gauge for the temp on the trans is off by about 20-30 degrees.

To each his own, they are nice and easy to install as well as remove that way, but I just like knowing my stand-alone gauges aren't lying to me.

If I was going that route, I'd just get the SCT livewire, or the touchscreen setup, since that's who I'd be using for tunes anyways. :rocking:

I prefer Mech Gauges myself. Better performance and in my opinion they look better than a monitor.

Can't go wrong with Isspro EV2's :tu:
