air intake and mpgs

hye guys. im half way new to the diesel truck world, grew up on tractors but we never had a truck thats all electronics. anyways i was wondering about cold air intakes. are there any that are better then others out there. i have a ford with the 6.0 and im looking to gain some mpgs. any suggestions?

hmm, im not sure what is the best for the 6.0's but some one else can let ya know

6.0

4" turbo back exhaust, AFE intake "or something similar" and an SCT tuner with some custom tunes. Thats the best setup for a 6.0. Its up to you to decide what tunes you want to go with.

yeah. i already have a hypertech max energy. after really starting to learn more i wish i had gotten the sct. but i like the hypertech. also have a cat back four inch system. would taking that cat off make any diff?

JON 05-03-2008 06:14 PM

Well

If you have the muff off the only real big diff taking the cat off is sound. They sound awesome.

Most of my customers order the Airaid intake for the 6.0's. As Jon stated above SCT is the best programmer on the market for the 6.0 trucks.

Basically, keep in mind that the equation of Air + Fuel - Restriction = Power. Keeping the equation is relative balance and you will always have a truck (regardless of brand) that operates as well as it can under specific HP / TQ settings and or fueling curves if you will.

Agressive fueling curves need lots of air (this in turn means intakes, manifolds and turbo(s). If in this case you don't address the restriction side (exhaust and supply) you will have issues with your EGT's.

Anyway, enjoy.
