EGR delete and VGT cycles

Has anyone had any EXPERIENCE with a disconnected EGR valve having negative effects on the VGR and/or the fan? No I don't care about CELs or codes, I just want to know if there is any truth to said theory.

I have, and so has Harry6.0.

There have been others that also noticed the VGT cycle issue over on the .ORG. From what I've gathered over the past couple of years, is the VGT cycle is effected when using the VXAP2 strategy.

I've heard on certain specific strategies if the EGR valve is not plugged in (can be plugged in and zip tied out of the way, doesn't have to be installed completely, just plugged in) it will not let the fan turn on. My EGR valve is sitting in a cubby in my garage and I know my fan comes on.

Thanks guys. I'm pretty sure I have VXAP2 strategy. I managed to find a valve at a repair shop, I'll get it after work today and let you know how it works.

Are you finding your fan isn't turning on?

Karls03 09-25-2012 05:27 PM

I don't know about the fan, temps have been right about on track, but it isn't cycling/screaming at idle :dang: What's the point of an '03 that doesn't scream!?! It also seemed like the power was a little off when I was driving like Mdub in Reno Sunday. (Sorry, dude, I couldn't resist.)

:jump: I put in a USED EGR valve, cleared the 0405 code and YIPPIE it screams at idle again :jump:

One of you electronic nerds should try to figure out what part of the EGR valve needs to be retained and make a fortune. If you can jump an OBDI system and a court ordered ignition interlock with a paper clip (no, that wasn't me!), then figuring out which part of the EGR valve that needs to be retained shouldn't be that hard. If done right, it could go back into the hole for appearance purposes.

I wonder if the tuner can fix this through tuning???

Karls03 09-27-2012 02:13 PM

I sent an email about that to Matt. While he didn't say, he couldn't do it, he did suggest an EGR valve. All that was needed was to complete the circuit.
