VE Pump Adjustment (Starwheel)

I did a bunch of mods to my stock (fully stock) 93 cummins this weekend. When I went to adjust the starwheel I could not get a full 2 clockwise turns out of it.....at 1 3/4 (1 full turn and 3/4 of another) it bottomed out. I backed it to 1.5 and left it.....I know for a fact the pump has never been touched, so why did it bottom out after only 1 3/4 turns? Should I go ahead and bottom it out?

Each engine is tuned before it leaves the factory to meat the information on the data plate. So every engines "tuning" will be different. Just tune yours the way you like it. It's a good idea to keep notes of what you did. That way if you run into a problem, you can start over.

I have a question regarding tuning the pump as well. I took the truck to a dyno day here last weekend and I have had the pump turned up (not by me) and it has a denny T stage 2 pin as well as an HX35 turbom that is wg. I pulled 192 on the dyno which isn't shabby but i want more ideally 225 or 250. Mine is an auto. A 93 with a manual pulled un after me and put down 258. I talked to him after wards and he was very honest and said all he did was adjust the pump from watching youtube videos and installed a BD hot housing on the stock turbo. Am I really loosing that much power through my auto or is there more that can be gotten outta the pump?

The torque converters in our trucks are pretty poor. Dodge did that because they were afraid the torque of the Cummins would be too much for the 518. A good torque converter and transmission adjustments will make a difference on how much power makes it to the rear wheels.

you can just modify more you ip to gde more fuel,or like cougar says change the torque converter

Turning up the injection pump still doesn't correct for the losses through the transmission.
