The timing portion was a very short version. I wanna know how much i can safely advance my timing and how you measure how much you have advanced it.

well ive been running mine to where the pump almost touches the intake, and havent had any problems. dont worry about too much, just move it an 1/8 of an inch. if you dont like it move it back.
if you get some pod injectors you will find that an 1/8 of an inch isnt enough. btw i think an 1/8 of an inch is about 18-18.5 deg. |

my next step is a p-pump just not happy with the limitations of the ve pump. |
You can get 450 out of a 12 mm head with custom injectors and twins, right?
|
Yeah you can get it out of a big single. KTA-Cummins(Brian Block) did 488 on a B1 and special race injectors. Diesel-central.com has a lot of info on the first gens. Brian is a member over there and is always willing to help out if he can awnser any questions for you.

over 400 is attainable with a big single and injectors. i wasnt thinking that wyo was wanting a big single though. and yes 450 can be had with twins. begle knows who KTA is, we all hang on the 1gen.org site.

Yeah I figured he did, not many first genners dont. Brian is a heck of a guy, I've met him a few times.

Time to get an old subject goin again. To get the steel collar off the full power screw, Geno's says to take the whole assembly out of the back of the pump. What do you loosen up and take out, the jam-nut? How do you get that collar off without movin the screw? How far is a good place to go with the star-wheel? Thanks
|
I marked mine with paint and then backed it out and broke the collar off. Turned the screw in two turns further, and blew the trans.
