so in that respect the ideal configuration would be many many tiny streams to fill the bowl in as wide a circumference as possible, it *should* run better since the force from the ignition of fuel would be pushing down more evenly on the piston, it would also atomize better in a finer jet as opposed to a larger wider one that would be more susceptible to turbulence.... maybe, we shall see I guess,
I do have what could be a really interesting concept that hasn't been tried yet I want to look at in simulation if i can figure out how to do it. |

yep, been looking at research on it. pretty amazing stuff. looks like most are going to 8+ holes, there's also a paper I saw that diamler did research on direct water injection using an injector that fed both diesel and water in the same pulse.. like 40%diesel 20%water 40% more diesel looking at one spray, that would be cool.. factory water injection
anyways, it's gonna take me awhile to figure this software out if I don't lose interest.. has anyone tried an oval hole in the nozzle? |
Mack quite often uses the higher hole count designs, I have a set of 10-hole Sac design nozzles used in a 12v @ the shop, the results were not very impressive when compared to a 6-hole VCO design. Ovate holes have been tried.

ooo were those pictures taken under compression? and yeah.. the spray on the SAC has a very uneven density and breakup to it on the one side.
I don't have much of a PC to render on, only PC I have running linux is a Piii toughbook, but it could be cool to watch the 5 hole vs 6 hole design injection events. |
You have to look at how the nozzle progression has gone and will continue. The VCO nozzle was introduced to minimize emissions, as so was the micro-blind Sac nozzle. Common Rail brought around the double guided needle VCO, and yet they have gone back to the Sac design for the 6.7L.

kinda circular. haha

Just ribbing you man... |
i'm really interested to see how smokems injectors turn out. any updates on when they'll be done?? and will the guy recieveing them be putting his truck on a dyno and running different injectors to compaire against?? (sorry for any bad spelling)
|
I am waiting on the injectors to arrive, I would be more than willing to post pictures during the process if there is interest.
