Last time it was teh Tranny and before I put it back I bombed the hell out of it with a Goerends brother Convertor, Good Clutches and steels, and Some other go fast goodies!

Guess I should do the same with the Turbo!
Attachment 53520

I'll go ahead and make this the install thread. Here is whats going back in!

And S300 Based Industrial Injection Silver 62! Also in the back ground you can see the 4" 2nd gen HX40 style Downpipe i will use.
Attachment 53521

Removal of the old turbo is so easy I didn't even take pics. Simply unbolt the exhaust, intake, Oil feed on top and drain on bottom. Then the 4 nuts that hold it to the manifold. Took about 30 min.

Install of the new turbo should start tonight or tomorrow, I was slowed down yesterday because it was raining inside my house monday night.

Oh well...

Just got up with Luke from Diesel Dawgs Performance here on the site and got a 4" Expandit exhaust on the way! Hell of a sale he has going on right now and his service is top notch!!! I almost had him send me a 5" turbo back for my 06 Cummins also, for $289 shipped its a STEAL!!! i dont think Steph would understand though. :D

Got my Stock downpipe off... 20 years of rust made me bust out the pipe cutter! If Fed-Ex would ever show up I would have the new exhaust so I can mock up my 2nd gen down pipe and the turbo so I will know were to make adjustments. Quite a difference in size huh...

Its a white shop rag to plug the line. Just came out REAL white in the pic on my cell.

With this pipe going past th etransfer case its amazing the engine can breath at all. The stock pipe is 3"

:D looks like MS Paint and you tried to hide something ... Hummm :humm:

RSWORDS 03-19-2009 05:07 PM

nope just crappy cell phone pics...

If you look in the upper right you can see one in the intake boot too.

Red_Rattler 03-19-2009 05:11 PM

Yeah alot of the 4" exhausts o around it. It's tight but it will go. The expandit exhaust I got is a 3.5" Downpipe but seeing as how I'm using a HX40 style I dont need it.

Exhaust showed up!!!

But a built 1st gen is 2135897637094620x more fun to drive then a p-pumped truck! :D

And parts are cheaper. You can get that edge turbo (which comes with a down pipe) and 4" exhaust for under a grand... You cant beat that!

Got to work on the truck some more today and I got the Exhaust on and turbo mounted...

Attachment 53482

Had to clearance the fire wall a little with the sledge hammer for the 2nd gen 4" HX40 style down pipe to fit

Attachment 53483

The expandit exhaust I got from Diesel Dawgs has a 3-1/2" Down pipe. Since I used the 4" 2nd gen I cut off the adapter as well as a short piece of the down pipe and joined them with a short piece of flex pipe.

Attachment 53484
Attachment 53485

Then it was just a matter of putting the pieces together. The kit went together VERY easy. It fits PERFECT!!!

Here is the 4" pipe going past the Transfer Case
Attachment 53486

I used band clamps (you can see them in the flex pipe pics) instead of the U-Bolt clamps that come with it. this will make it easier to take apart in the future. I used the u-bolt clamps that came with it for the hangers.

Attachment 53487

I used the stock hanger for the tail pipe. I just drilled a hole in the pipe and put the bolt through.

Attachment 53488

Again... VERY smooth install!

I would HIGHLY recommend this system to anyone who wants a better exhaust for there truck!

RSWORDS 03-21-2009 05:27 PM
