fuel pin question

got some question about my fuel pin. i want more power so should i grind off my old one or just buy one thats already ground off??? need advice!:humm:

RSWORDS 11-04-2008 07:06 PM

You can do either. You will see a great inprovement by just grinding but you will see more with something like teh DennyT... ALOT deeper track. Here is a Video Comparing the two

sidekick 11-04-2008 07:43 PM

just take your time and grind it keep it true and straight

GO OVRIT 11-04-2008 08:08 PM

There isn't enough metal in the stock pin to get as deep of a ramp as a Denny T or an Old Smokey. Stay away from the Bully Dog pins. They were making pins with too soft of metal, but they're also overpriced.

Mopar1973Man 11-12-2008 10:04 AM

Wow! That a huge improvement over the stock ground pin and the Denny T pin... I think I know what I tell my buddy to order...:humm:

Power Ram Man 02-02-2009 08:42 PM

what about the smokey pin

RSWORDS 02-03-2009 07:08 AM

Its a good pin also.

DieselPerformanceGuy 03-13-2009 12:04 PM

GET OVERIT how do u figure about bully dog pins, the old smokey pin was like 200 + and the bully dog pins are 180 and under, also the bully dog adds more power than the old smokey and all i've heard about the old smokey is bad stuff. but i wouldn't know im just a newbie

New_Dog_93 04-15-2009 12:33 AM

I run an Old Smokey (thanks Mike) I LOVE IT !! Cost me under 200 and took 15 minutes to install. Now when I burn onto the highway with my quads and trailer loaded I don't wonder if I'm going to get up to speed or not..... I know I will!!

jhase 04-24-2009 11:29 AM

The DennyT Stage II and M&H 5 cones are nearly identical. I have seen both side by side. The only difference is "Alwaysworking" offers different "stages" for his cones. Dennis used to make a Stage I, but everyone wanted the higher performance Stage II, so he discontinued the first one.

Even if there are differences in the cone, they would be so minimal, there would be no difference performance wise.

Silver Stallion 04-28-2009 08:03 PM

i went ahead and bought a new power pin and it helped alot but what made the most difference was the govener spring

RSWORDS 04-28-2009 08:16 PM

Yeah that 3200 spring is awesome!

Albert R 04-29-2009 12:10 AM

RSWORDS 04-29-2009 06:06 AM

DDP

Does anyone know if the DDP fuel pins are good?:U::booo: It adds 10HP more than the DennyT and costs around $90 more.

LOGANSTANFORTH 05-04-2009 10:19 AM

all of the power pins add about 30-40 horsepower.....you want to know how some of these guys are getting 50+ horse with their pins, they are dynoing a built truck with a stock pin (stock pin is severely holding the truck back) then dynoing the truck with the new deep pin and thats where it comes from, the Bully Dog pin is complete junk, the PDR pin is a cut factory one i believe, i would go Smokey, Denny, M&H, or anyone that has one made out of good hard tool steel.......

OR GIVE ME A COUPLE WEEKS AND DEPENDING ON WHAT THEY COST ME I MAY SEND YOU ONE OF MINE FREE......IM HAVING SOME MADE AT THE LOCAL MACHINE SHOP.....

RSWORDS 05-04-2009 10:31 AM

Yeah they are all about he same, I think DennyT's stage 2 has teh most agressize profile out there.

Ramrod90 05-04-2009 01:12 PM

If you are going to get the Ol' Smokey pin, be sure it is the original and not the remake by Bully Dog. The Bully Dog pins are made of soft steel and gouge. The original ones will have a "OS" stamped on the bottom. I have the DennyT and the 3200 spring and those made me a whole new truck.

Gunmetal 08-25-2009 04:17 PM

The DDP, bully dog, and old smokey were all designed by Mike.
Bully Dog and DDP make and sell them without his permission.
There are quality control issues with them, too, Bully dog pins will groove.

Order an Old Smokey directly from Mike, it's heat treated and he gives you a guarantee!

RSWORDS 08-25-2009 04:50 PM

So does M&H and DennyT.... Both of which are about half teh price. M&H is also a sponcor on here! :U:

Gunmetal 08-26-2009 08:16 AM

Old smokey is 100 bucks.

Budgreen 08-26-2009 08:48 AM

I just made my own :yeah:

did you grind the factory pin? you can only go so far with the factory pin... an aftermarket pin is much more aggressive but a ground stock pin does just fine to satisfy your need of fuel until you get a new precision cut pin

Budgreen 08-26-2009 12:07 PM

I did grind the factory pin and didn't get much.. so I pulled out a nice hard round rod and turned it down, then ground the profile I liked into it, bolted it up and away I went!

1990cummins 08-26-2009 09:44 PM

any of you guy try running it without the pin, i had my truck like that for a long time i just put a bolt in the diaphram and put it back in, wow what a difference and just so u guys know no the delivery pin cant fall out it is attatched to a lever and it is'nt mutch different then runnin a m&h 5 or a denny t 2 the delivery pin stops about a 1/8 from the chamber wall, the only ill effect that i notice was after about a week i noticed the relief tube on the top of the pump was weeping a little

RSWORDS 08-27-2009 04:00 PM

The pin will travel farter then the seal. that is were the fuel is coming from.
