Awesome! I was thinking about what tuner i was going to use for my ford cummins. Now my mind is made up.

1badcummins 02-03-2011 12:38 PM

well on my 3rd tune now few other things added and change the truck runs amazingly smooth no timing rattle or fuel pop at all. it sounds much quieter at idle and throughout the rpms. the hp is equal to any of my previous boxes or programmers:tu:

I will post up some pics of the EFI Live tables that we have access to now as a beta testers... We have made some pretty good imporvements on Nicks truck over what he's used to in terms of drivability....

Power wise i'm just waiting on him to get some things right on the motor before we try to turn it up any more.

An important note is that we have kept the power the same, completely smoothed out the engine noise, built a smoother power curve, made his turbos light up significantly faster from about any RPM range, and potentially improved his economy at the same time..... That is with about 2-3 hours of actual 'tuning' including time of putting the tunes in his truck, driving, etc...

I'll get the tables posted though of some of the things we have access too in EFI Live. There are lots of important features we have already, and more to come. First They need to finish getting logging figured out.

For the Dodge world, and the guys who care about the best of all worlds on a modified truck - EFI live stuff is going to be your ticket....

If you haven't already found answers to your questions, i'll try to answer what I can for you, and will post up what i can.....

Whats the price tag?:pca1:

zfuller123 02-03-2011 05:39 PM

The price to buy an EFI cable (if you don't already have one) is $799 - regardless of where you buy. This will be your cable set up for Cummins tuning, including 2 VIN licenses (means you can tune 2 different trucks, right out of the box without additional cost).

Most of the tuners will give you a couple of 'starter' tunes with your cable when you purchase it - a basic economy and tow tune.

If you already have a V2 interface cable, it'll cost $399 to upgrade that cable to support the Cummins....

VIN licenses (trucks) are $99 a piece.

Custom Tunes - those will really vary from tuner to tuner. The Cummins game is new to EFI, so there aren't really any established tuners out there yet - but there are definitely some very well known tuners that you can buy from when the time is right for you, and there are some lesser known tuners who do it on a smaller scale that can take care of you just the same.

There are other ways to get your truck tuned as well. For example, if you don't want to be able to tune / flash your own truck (don't want to spend the $799 to learn and put in / change your own tunes) - some tuners will charge you a license fee for their cable to get your truck tuned with their own V2. There are definite downsides and i don't generally reccomend going with this approach.

There are some shops that will very likely offer Cummins tuning as well - which might be a better alternative for those not wanting ot purchase a cable.

There may end up being other options as well, but i don't want to bring them up yet.... as they may not make it to the Cummins market.

Best bet will be to buy the V2, buy your tunes form a tuner you trust - not just a guy that happens to have EFI before you.... and you'll love where it gets you....

The program is still in beta so i dont have many details and im not the person doing the tuning that would be my buddy zach. I can tell you that the differences are amazing! the truck runs way smoother the pedal isn't touchy at all it acts almost like a stock pedal except there is power when its floored. there isnt near as much timing rattle or fuel pop or anything of that nature the truck runs fantastic and we still cant even tune everything. oh and spool up is amazing! it holds like 7 or 8 psi just driving around cruzing speeds with my twins and i can free rev 7 psi or so. :jump:

cause duramax guys know what they're doing :D

believe me there is a millions ways to tune a vehicle, you can have ten different guys tune your truck with efi live and you can compare just the throttle base injection quantity and everyone does it different.

i know if i was tuning it i wont try to keep ya down cause one thing i like doing is making horsepower :rocking:

stoked about it.

EFI Live view of Cummins tuning...

Here are some of the many many tables currently accessible, with many more to come as the beta progresses....

Some of the tables are similar in many regards to duramax tables, others are not. Anyways, this lets you guys know what we're playing with in the beta of the Cummins tuning... And how much information EFI's software provides (visibly see how smooth or rough your tables are, etc.)

These screen shots are from Nicks bone stock tune... Some of the units are still not in Imperial units, but that will be changed well before the public release....

List of some of the tables that can be adjusted......
