oooooooooooooooo purty

mxtuner1 06-03-2010 09:37 PM

Lucky man I bet he welds alot better now!

UntrainedEye 06-03-2010 09:49 PM

it is a sexy turbo, but he's gonna have a little more lag than the stocker.

DB Admin 06-03-2010 09:52 PM

a 12cm ext housing shouldn't have much lag hell ive had a 21cm on my truck with stock injectors at one time ....now thats lag :D

dangerous1965 06-03-2010 10:06 PM

HTT has been having issues with turbo failure and not backing their poduct be careful nothing worse than a pissed off friend cause you bought the wrong turbo! No worries on lag he should like it hope he has the fuel to go with it!

2006 Cummins Puts down 461 HP with just a superchips, Intake, Exhaust, McCabe Flex Plate , Triple Disk Converter and TFOD SK'd VB

The Turbo should rock it :rocking:

bobcat67 06-03-2010 11:33 PM

I have that exact same turbo, and it spools faster than stock, and I made 478/937 on the dyno with 40" tires and 3.73's, so i'm not going to complain, and when you deal with the right people selling the products they usually make it right in the end if there is a problem

DB Admin 06-04-2010 12:02 AM

Any install Tips?

bobcat67 06-04-2010 12:07 AM

take the exhaust manifold off, and do it that way if possible, i would've done it that way if i had to do it again, the back two bolt/bolts closest to the engine block are a pain to get at when trying to install it properly, other than that it was pretty straight forward, I guess i forgot that my exhaust had to be moved a bit which made it hit the transmission dipstick line so i made a new bracket to hold that away from the exhaust, but i can't guarantee you'll have to do the same thing, i have an aftermarket ats manifold on mine so i think that might have played a role in some of the "problems"

DB Admin 06-04-2010 12:08 AM

removing the manifold was the first things we read and he said he was going to try to do it with out removing the manifold

bobcat67 06-04-2010 12:16 AM

ah, well then best of luck, it's do-able, but i know why they say to take the manifold off now, the way the turbo is set up just doesn't match up very well trying to get the bolts tight, at least for me it didn't, i managed to get the bolts tight, but it sucked, and had to modify some wrenches to get it to work, but it did work

DB Admin 06-04-2010 01:09 PM

the intake looks like it sticks way out there , is that how all 3rd gen chargers are?

bobcat67 06-04-2010 02:23 PM

yeah pretty much, they're not as fun to change as the earlier model pickups, due to the lower/farther back set up, I had to modify my intake shroud a bit to get the HTT turbo to work too, it made the intercooler tube a little higher, of course that could've been from the spearco intercooler I put on the same day, i don't know, or a combination of the two

UntrainedEye 06-04-2010 09:47 PM

Remove the manifold. It's a PITA when you find out there isn't enough room to the new turbo into place. Also, the oil drain tube bolts won't be as easy to get to when you go to bolt it up. Probably gonna end up removing the plastic fender liner, and cutting all the exhaust hangers, and slide the whole system back.

bobcat67 06-05-2010 11:40 AM

I never cut any exhaust hangers, but i'm not saying it was fun to get everything into place

DB Admin 06-10-2010 02:26 PM

He loves the turbo , but its throwing over boost code?

He said he should of taken the manifold off because it was a major pita to get the turbo on , said he has 3 bolts in it and cannot get the 4th one but its not leaking

bobcat67 06-10-2010 04:32 PM

yeah the over boost code is due to the fact that he needs a boost fooler, or a programmer that incorporates the boost fooling ability, if i remember correctly he only has the superchips? I have the smarty and the quadzilla boost fooler on mine, and I've hit 48lbs of boost on the dyno, can hit 40-42 driving with the torque converter lock up switch, without the switch the highest it'll usually go is 38

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

I'd say take the manifold off and put that extra bolt in cause it'll start leaking eventually

DB Admin 06-17-2010 05:25 PM

how much is the boost fooler?

harry22 06-27-2010 01:18 PM

Any new numbers yet? Will he eventually switch to the smarty or some other tuner??

Diesel Dawgs Performance 06-27-2010 02:41 PM

He can get a Quadzilla Boost Fooler
