What year dodge trucks are CR fuel injected?

Is the common rail fuel system aftermarket only? or are some cummins powered trucks stock with this type system?

Need clarification - what exactly do you want to know?

Jet A Fuel 08-18-2009 09:10 PM

is the common rail fuel system different than an VP44 driven system? Is it a CP3?

2500HeavyDuty 08-18-2009 09:38 PM

yes alot different, common rail cummins trucks in rams are the 03 and up models

Jet A Fuel 08-18-2009 09:40 PM

Is it better than the VP44 system? Is it posible to upgrade If I buy a used pump and the lines?

Diesel Dawgs Performance 08-18-2009 10:04 PM

CR is a better design than the VP44. It would be easier and cheaper to convert to a P7100 injection pump from a 12V Cummins.

Thanks, my truck has 235000 miles i am experiancing some jerking /bucking at rpms above 2100 I am going to check the filter and the lift pump i hope that does it. Thanks again for the info.

Dr. Evil 08-18-2009 10:15 PM

Im still a bit lost as to what your asking - are you asking about converting a VP-44 truck to a commonrail?

Yeah, the Commonrail with the CP-3 pump is a much better system and the pumps take a lot more abuse than a VP-44.

But, this would not be an easy or cheap conversion - if it can be done at all.

The sheer money it would take to get the computers to work ...would be enough to ster me away from it...

Get a good VP and a good lift pump and when i say good i dont mean a new OEM one...im talking Airdog, FASS, MITUSA belt drive pump...
