Intake
I am going to install a new inake. I found Spectre Performance Cold Air Intake on summit for $149 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sp...s/?prefilter=0. Has anyone installed this? Is it worth my time?

used one on my gas truck i had but now on my CR i have an AFE and i like it. :rocking:
|
So is it something you would recommend? If I don't have to spend $250+ on something that only adds 3-5 hp (check any dyno test video) I would love it.
|
Intake won't add to your dyno unless you are pushing 450+.
Make a willies whistler for about $80 or so, and some time. |

So are you saying you don't know what that is?
|
God...it's a stock intake horn. Nothing to do with a CAI.
|
Don't know where you get off defining the term "intake," but FYI, it's everything north of the valves on the drivers side of the head. That's why they are called "intake" valves. And that piece you are looking at is where some horsepower you said doesn't exist below 400 lies.
Just FYI. |
That's generally referred to as an intake horn. Not to be confused with a cold air intake Nadir. Of course you know this already. $150 bucks is cheap enough, so what the hell? Give it a shot.

Make a willies whistler for about $80 or so, and some time. But of you course you didn't "realize" that yet, did you K80? Or the OP could spend $80 accomplishing nothing, right? Great advice, right there, yessir! That's what he said, at least "450" horsepower, or you're wasting your money. Fail. I was talking about intake as I described it, in order to point the OP towards some intake info that could be of practical use, rather than accepting the parroted diesel dogma so often spouted from some of the the self-proclaimed gurus around here. Sorry for trying to help. :w2: |
Since the OP posted a link for a cold air intake and not an intake horn, everyone here knows what he is looking for except for you. Congratulations on proving you're a dumba$$ again.
|
Just like the EFI thread where he thinks his smarty jr is superior....:w2:
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- And your intercooler is an intake well by Nadir's definition.....maybe we should call it the "cooling the air intake" seeing as cold air intake was taken. |
lol..... Really???

Let's look at the context of everything the OP said. He asked about a CAI. I said it won't help unless he is over 450 hp. No one anywhere mentioned the horn until you brought it up. So instead of helping the poor guy out, you go and derail his thread with all this crap.

So you have no response to the facts at hand, except another personal attack?
Welcome to my ignore list, clever boy! |
Can you put EVERYONE on that list please??

Sorry, but you have to prove your own unique brand of personal stupidity to me in order to qualify.

WOW what is up the sensitivity lately!
NadirPoint everything you made this thread into is irrelevant to anything the OP was asking about, I hope you're on his ignore list for wasting his time! 01trailerpuller, take Chemmins advice. Something fancy is not needed, it potentially could help to some degree. $150 is a nice price for a filter and an intake tube though. If you don't want to build your own, or throw a filter on the end of your factory intake tube, go for it. It looks good; and it is not K&N. |
I am coming in on this late, but I am new. to respond to the original question: I am running a BHAF, and I have not had any problems it works great. Google BHAF and you will get filter numbers and install instructions. Total cost for me was $60.00, if you want cheap there it is.
