Cool thanks for the list dustin but ive got two questions- what is a racked barrel and what r the edm tubes r they different from the standard tubes?

racking the barrels means turning the barrel holders for max fuel then balancing the pump according to the lowest of the 6 it is the only way to get the true max out of a pump and must be done on a flow bench.

edm tubes means larger injector connecting tubes. you send yours in for cores and they are edm'd out to .093" so that they are no longer a restriction in the injection system.

you can also have the DV holders edm'd out also or get billet ones but without a 13mm pump i wouldnt because the pressure loss negates any benifits on the 12mm pumps

if your talking a 06-07 5.9 CR head then yes it will flow slightly more, you would have to cut the intake off of it tho because it would hit the pump and couple holes need reworked in the head gasket is all. your vp injectors will bolt right in the CR head and you would use the CR tubes and have scheid make your conversion lines with the correct nut on the head side. in the end i would stick with the vp head because the flow would be nullified if you done a port job on the vp head since the flow difference is marginal.

Hey I'm fairly new to deisel motors. And had thought the common rail would provid better flow. And boost pressures. And was going to try this method. I've ran into you thread and have stopped. Now if I were to fire ring it then the gasket issue would be solved yes?

And I'm also stumped here as to cutting the intake off. ? It hits the vp44 pump? Or the p pump u guys were talking about. I'm just running the vp44 hotrod in my 99. Do I still need to cut anything or is it a easier swap?? :humm:

the minimal amount that the CR head flows over the VP head with both in stock form would be a wash with the intake cut off to clear the ppump which is only needed with the CR head ppump combo the ppump will clear on the VP head no problem. that alone would allow more air into the engine since the difference in cfm between the two is so close. the firerings wouldnt have anything to do with the part of the gaskets we were talking about. we were talking about the oil and water passages.
