great for gas engines.

I found mine was doing the exact same thing... I thought my turbo oil seals were leaking, but didn't make sense it was oily in the front of it.:argh:

I have a 2003 generation 3 that I would like to attach a bhaf air filter to the turbo hose and remove the factory box. What filter will fit this turbo hose? I did remove the silence ring and the plastic baffles in the turbo tube as recommended by many.
thanks v/r j weis:humm:

all removing the baffles and silencer ring do is make the turbo louder.

does nothing for performance.

this site has a description of the BHAF as well as all of the part numbers for different brands of filters that will work as a BHAF (napa, donaldson, fleetguard, wix, etc...)

my dad did the whole filter on the turbo, he used a spectra, honestly with the heat that comes through the radiator and being that close to the engine i dont think it does any good...

I have an actual ram air hood on my truck would puttin a bhaf directly on the turbo be ok?? Maybe cooler air in the engine bay due to ram air hood??!?

you're not really going to get cooler air.

Your turbo is going to heat up the air either way, and your intercooler is going to cool it back down.

if air is too cold in the intake manifold, your truck will actually get worse fuel economy. IAT sensor readings will cause injection timing to change.

I am also running a K&N in the airbox with no issues in the past 5 years. Just want to avoid over oiling them and shouldn't have any issues.
